The July 2022 Android security patch is being distributed widely for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. The new security update for the foldable only recently began to be downloaded in the nation. Only the unlocked units were covered by the initial rollout. However, the carrier-locked versions of the phone have recently received the most recent SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in the United States.

For US handsets that are carrier-locked, this update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is currently rolling out with firmware version F926USQU1DVG1. A few networks, including T-Mobile, already provide the OTA (over the air) bundle. Other networks should receive it soon as well.

Only stability enhancements and this month’s vulnerability fixes are included in the update’s official changelog. Therefore, don’t hold out hope for any significant user-facing changes. Samsung will be saving all new features for the future generation of its bespoke software as it gets One UI 4.1.1 ready for its upcoming foldables. In the future, One UI 4.1.1 should also spread to more established foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

The July SMR features solutions for more than 60 vulnerabilities, according to a statement made by Samsung earlier this month. These include the 20 or so Android OS flaws that Google addressed. Three of them required immediate attention.

41 more problems were unique to Samsung’s products. Other brands of Android devices were unaffected. There were problems that jeopardized the security of Galaxy smartphones and tablets among them. Some of them enabled device factory resets to allow attackers to get beyond the Knox security system. A number of other features, including Contact, Messages, App Lock, and others, were also fixed by the Korean company.

THE JULY UPDATE IS AVAILABLE FOR CARRIER-LOCKED UNITS OF THE GALAXY Z FOLD 3. Along with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung debuted the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in August of last year. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will debut on August 10. The firm is now preparing to release their respective successors soon. The July SMR is currently traveling toward US users of the 2021 Fold model and, if it hasn’t already, should do so at any moment. Keep an eye out for a notification in the near future.
