The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is now receiving the August 2022 Android security patch from Samsung. The most recent security patch is being applied to the 2021 clamshell foldable in Europe. In the upcoming days, the deployment will be extended to additional markets, including the US.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3’s European models are running the F711BXXU2CVG8 firmware version, which is the August SMR (Security Maintenance Release). This build number implies that the device might be receiving updates beyond the most recent vulnerability fixes. There is minimal chance the gadget is acquiring any new features or user-facing modifications, even though we don’t have a changelog on hand to confirm that. At most, there might be a few performance improvements.
The One UI 4.1.1 software that Samsung will release with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 next week will add a few new capabilities to its foldable devices. With a further update, those functions need to be added to the foldable models by 2021. Later this year, when the Korean company releases One UI 5.0 based on Android 13, a larger feature update will come.

The bulk of these flaws were discovered in the Android operating system and were fixed by Google. However, the Korean company is also disseminating updates for 31 security weaknesses specific to its products, known as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items.
A critical flaw brought on by inadequate input validation in baseband, which enables attackers to induce integer overrun to heap overflow, is one of the SVEs addressed this month. With the August SMR, Samsung has also addressed a number of vulnerabilities with high and moderate severity. Some of these permitted the execution of arbitrary code, while others let attackers access files with system power.
THE galaxy z flip 3 IS REACHED BY THE AUGUST SECURITY UPDATE Last week, Samsung started spreading the August SMR to its products. The update is already available for the Galaxy S22, S21, S20, Galaxy Note 20, and Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has recently joined the fray as well. Most of these gadgets’ initial rollouts are constrained to a few niche markets. But it won’t be long until the changes become universal.
